Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Wanna have a great time sitting outside Denmark? Why dont you check out this site and calculate how much taxes you would pay if you income was made in Denmark - do try it, it will give you a big laugh and boost your day big time!
And if thats not enough I can tell you that we have political parties thinking that our taxes ending around 70% and a VAT at 25% isnt enough… nice people…  enjoy!

Generation ‘we want’

Friday, October 26th, 2007

The election for the Danish parlament (folketinget) is due 13. November, so every party and its youth groups are very active ’spaying’ the wall ect. with their posters and making a lot of happenings - all of it being very interesting..  you really see what these parties thinks interest the votes and you also see what on their internal agenda.
Yesterday there was a small happening by the youth group of SF (the socialist people party - eventhough they have this ‘people party’ thing they are not real communist and they dont belive in revolution and dictatorship…) and it was really interesting to see what was on THEIR mind…  and for me it looks like it was mostly the ‘we want’ thing…  being students they of course wanted 1000 kr. more in SU (state support for students), so EUR 650 per month is not enough - they want EUR 130 extra…
And free dentists for all (at least something for all) - and the free trains and busses for the people studying, too…
And more doctors and more nurses and and and…
Are we looking at a new generation here?? Generation WE WANT?

Build-A-Bear amazes me!

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

I must admit that I’m a Build-A-Bear fan! Not a fan in the sense that I have a huge collection of the bears and cant walk past a Build-A-Bear shop (in fact I dont have single Build-A-Bear- surprised?), but a huge fan of the concept! The way they enclosed storytelling in the concept and made the trip to the Build-A-Bear shop an adventure - an adventure not only to build the bear, but to give it life and involve the children in the process… its great.
And you certainly know its great when you see the happy faces of the kids… and I do sometimes visit the shop just to see the joy there…
But sometimes you dont have to visit the shops - just look around when the proud small new owners are walking home their new Build-A-Bear.
This proud Build-A-Bear girl I saw on Nørrebronx.. and it was no problem at all to get the picture of the proud new owner…..

Esbjerg in the weekend…

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Some views from being back in Esbjerg….

This is what they call a restaurant in Esbjerg
esbjerg_restaurant.jpg
Yes, its certainly aimed at the fishermen in town, and some would say its a bit too much with all that stuff in the window and inside, but if you compare it to the Irish and English concept bars all over the world you would find this a bit for original…. hint: this hasnt been ordered on shop.irishbar.com ;-)

Copenhagen has its Rundetårn and Esbjerg has Vandtårnet

And the advertising agencies are just as good/sad as in Copenhagen

AND the local football team beat the (former) leader of the league FC Midtjylland 2-0…  nice…   so in fact a pretty good weekend!

Support to Kyllingen

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

In Denmark a website www.kyllingen.com is collecting signatures from people who think that Michael Rasmussen unfairly was robbed of his chances to win this years Tour de France - a Tour de France he would have won if it wasnt for the preassure by the Tour de France management and the bad decision making of the Rabobank management who took him out of the race…. the site is of course not made to change anything that has happened, but only as a support to this great rider.
Go support Michael Rasmussen - he deserves it!

Other people having trouble in Khao San road

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

It seems like Thomas and I was fare from the only people having trouble in the Khao San Road area - my experience with the very unfriendly manager and staff at Wild Orchid Villa always get to my mind when I read stories like the one Carolien is telling here.
But dont get me wrong - that will not stop me visiting Thailand and its nice people, but just make me watch out if…

Out walking this afternoon

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

Today it was time for my first walk since the surgery and it went very well.
After fetching the Sunday paper at the end of my stairs this morning I knew that even walking on stairs is slow but already possible, so later today I decided to talk a small walk in the sunny but windy weather - and there was no problems on the 40 minutes walk, but I did walk rather slow (at least for me…) and now I’m sitting with the leg up and ice on the knee - just to make sure…

Wreck diving in end September?

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Michael came around to visit me today and with good news - he’s planning a dive trip for some friends in the end of September - a dive trip to Cyprus where we’ll be doing some serious wreck diving on the Swedish wreck Zenobia.
Even though I’m still sitting with my leg up getting a lot of ice and strong pills, it is certainly worth considering going in end September and its physical possible….  on Monday I will already start the process making my knee and leg stronger visiting my physiotherapist Kristian…
